Hi, I’m George! I’m a sweet and sensitive soul who loves people and is gentle with everyone I meet. I’ve been through a sad time recently, as I suddenly found myself all alone after my beloved owner very sadly passed away. I’m still finding my feet and adjusting to all the changes.
I’m currently staying in a kind and understanding foster home, where I’ve been shown so much love and kindness. Now, I’m ready to find my forever people- a family who will give me just as much love, patience and kindness as my foster family has shown me, and cherish me for the rest of my life.

Home Compatibility
Children: Could live with calm and sensible dog-savvy children aged 5+
Dogs: No other dogs
Cats: No cats

Home Alone Time
Comfortable being left?: Not initially. George is not used to being on his own and will need time to settle down first, before building up gradually on being left for short periods.
Maximum Known Duration: 2-3 hours, once settled in.

Training and Behaviour
Car Travel: Vocal in the car- can howl and whine
Recall: Good, in secure paddocks or on a long lead
Housetrained: Yes
Lead Walking: Needs a bit more work and he can be strong on the lead when he pulls
Reactivity Towards Dogs: George has not had much interaction with other dogs. He is fine to walk past them at a comfortable distance, but is known to mount and hump them out of stress/uncertainty in close proximity.

Exercise and Lifestyle
Exercise Requirements: Low/Moderate
Daily Exercise Needs: Daily walks alongside ongoing training, enrichment and mental stimulation.
Favourite Activities: Following his favourite people around, snuggles on the sofa, sniffing and gentle walks.
George is carrying a bit of extra weight at the moment, and is lacking some muscle mass in his back legs due to his age and not being walked much recently so would need short and gentle but frequent, low impact exercise and walks to start off with.

Public Places
Comfort Levels in Public Places (e.g. cafés, pubs, shops, town centres): George has not had much exposure to the outside world recently due to his late owner’s poor health, so he would likely find busy and crowded environments like cafes, pubs and town centres with high human and dog traffic very overwhelming to start with.
He would benefit from slow and gentle introductions to new places, starting with quieter outdoor environments while he builds up his confidence.

Medical
Neutered: Not yet
Vaccinations: Out of date currently
Flea Treatment: Up to date
Worm Treatment: Up to date
George needs some dental work done, which St Francis would be happy to cover.

George is looking for a loving and understanding home where he can feel safe, secure and cherished. After going through a very sad and unsettling time in his life, he needs a little extra patience, kindness and reassurance to help him find comfort and happiness again. He is a gentle, sensitive soul who isn’t asking for much, just a little love, companionship and a place to call home again.
